Privacy and cookies

What this website does with your information, in plain language. Short version: we do not store your name or phone number on the site, and analytics only run if you say yes.

Who we are

meajivilla.com is the website of Meaji Villas, a private villa in Ubud, Bali, run by I Nyoman Suardika and family. We decide why and how information from this site is used.

What we collect and why

  • Booking and enquiry details you type into the form: name, WhatsApp number, optional email, dates, guests and notes. The site uses them only to write the WhatsApp message on your device. They are not sent to our servers and not stored by the site. When you send the message, it reaches us through WhatsApp, and we use it to reply, quote and manage your stay.
  • A reference code. Each time you open WhatsApp from the site, the message ends with a short code (for example MV-4YGUZ), the page you came from and the line "Sent via website". It lets us match a chat to the site visit. It contains no personal data.
  • Visit statistics: pages viewed, device and browser type, approximate location, how you reached the site (for example Instagram), and whether you opened the booking form or WhatsApp. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland this happens only if you accept. Elsewhere it happens by default, without advertising features, and you can switch it off at any time. We never send your name, phone number, email or message text to analytics.
  • Your country, read from Cloudflare when a page loads, only to decide whether to ask for consent. It is not stored.
  • Availability: our server reads the calendar of the villa's Airbnb listing to hide dates that are taken. This involves no information about you.
  • Technical logs kept by our hosting provider, Cloudflare, such as IP address and request time, for security and reliability.

Cookies and similar storage

The site stores a few small items in your browser. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland it stores only the first three without your consent. Elsewhere the fourth is also set, until you opt out.

  • mv-consent: remembers your choice about analytics. Kept until you clear your browser data.
  • mv-theme: remembers light or dark mode. Kept until you clear your browser data.
  • mv-source: remembers how you arrived, for the length of your visit, so the message you send names the right source. Cleared when you close the tab.
  • _ga and _ga_*: Google Analytics cookies, to count visits. Set after you accept in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, and by default elsewhere until you opt out.

Your choice about analytics

In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, a banner asks whether we may measure visits when you first arrive. Until you accept, analytics storage and advertising features stay switched off. Decline, and nothing about your visit is recorded.

Everywhere else, visits are measured by default with Google Analytics, without advertising features, and no banner is shown. You can switch this off at any time.

In every region you can change your mind at any time with "Cookie settings" in the footer.

Because some visitors decline, our visitor numbers can still be lower than real traffic. We accept that.

Who receives information

We do not sell your information and we do not use it for advertising.

  • Google: Google Analytics (after consent in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, and by default elsewhere until you opt out) and the Google Maps frame on some pages. The map loads without waiting for consent, so Google receives your IP address when it appears.
  • WhatsApp (Meta): carries the message you choose to send. Their terms and privacy policy apply to the chat.
  • Cloudflare: hosts and delivers the site.
  • Airbnb: the source of the availability calendar. We read it; we do not send your information to it.

Transfers outside Indonesia

Google, Meta and Cloudflare process data in other countries. By using these services you accept that information may be handled outside Indonesia, under those companies' own safeguards.

How long we keep it

  • Chats and booking details on WhatsApp: as long as needed to handle your enquiry and stay, and to meet accounting and tax duties. After that we delete them.
  • Analytics data: for the period set in our Google Analytics property.
  • Browser storage: as described above.

Your rights

Under Indonesia's Personal Data Protection Law (UU PDP, Law 27 of 2022) you may ask to see the personal data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, withdraw your consent, or object to how it is used.

Message us on WhatsApp at +62 859-3524-3151 and tell us what you want. We will answer as soon as we can. If you are not satisfied with the answer, you may raise it with the relevant data protection authority.

Children

This site is for adults planning a stay. It is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes to this page

If what the site does changes, we update this page and the date at the top. If a change needs your consent, we ask again.
